April Student Ministry News
How is April already here?!?! It's hard to believe, and the year is flying by.
Most of March was spent planning our Youth Sunday worship services, and WOW!! They showed a depth of faith and creativity that showed brilliantly God's glory. It's safe to say Grace will be looking forward to Youth Sundays for years to come. We also tackled issues of stress and how we deal with it in March.
During Youth Group in April, we'll be digging into how we deal with anger and loneliness, and experiencing the Passion of Christ during Holy Week.
It was a HUGE success! Through the dedication of our youth, we raised over $2800 to go towards our summer mission trips and general fun times!
Grace Fellowship Dinner
April 9 will bring an altered schedule to youth group. 5:30-7 will be dinner and a karaoke night. Middle School Youth Group will be from 7-8 with a night of worship. All youth are invited to join the church at the fellowship dinner and karaoke night.
Middle School Night Out
Tuesday, April 30 the Middle School Youth Group will have a night out! Stay tuned for more information!

Spots remain open for our summer mission trips to Raleigh (high school) and Massanetta Springs (middle school). If you haven't signed up, do so by April 30 with the form of intent found on Grace's website and a $100 deposit.

March Student Ministry News
As the old saying goes, March has come in like a lion! It was bummer to not get to have our first high school youth group of the month on Sunday, but what a lovely snowfall we got.
After a month of fun and games, retreats, and learning about what the Bible teaches us about worrying, here's what's coming up for Student Ministry in March!
During Youth Group in March, we'll be digging deep into the idea of prayer as we plan for youth Sunday, which is Sunday, March 24! Then we'll be continuing the series we started in February by looking at what the bible tells us about stress.
Our Envelope Fundraiser started Sunday, and has been a huge success so far. It continues every Sunday through March 24. Youth are asked to be present at the Wall of Envelopes to help draw people in and encourage them to support Student Ministry at Grace!
All youth will be headed to Thunderbird Lanes on Friday, March 15. Leaving the church at 6:15 pm and returning around 9:30. Cost is $5 for the night, dinner included.
YOUTH SUNDAY, March 24!
All youth are needed to plan and lead both worship services on Sunday, March 24. Youth are responsible for everything from songs to prayers to sermons! Important rehearsal (mandatory!) will be Saturday, March 23 from 1-3 pm at the church.
Middle School Retreat, March 29-31
We'll be headed to SW Philly for a weekend of fun and service with A Common Mission Experience. We'll be making breakfast for folks in a nursing facility and playing BINGO with them, as well as spending some time hanging out in the city and so much more! Don't miss it! $100 for the weekend. Email Pastor Kristen to sign up.
Happy February! And what a cold start to it we've had..
In January, our middle school youth spent time talking about the promises we make in the New Year, Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service and love, and what it means to serve others in small acts of kindness just because we want to brighten their lives a little bit. Jesus didn't call us to do grand gestures all the time, but to carry out small everyday acts that make a person's life more flourishing because everyone matters in God's eyes. The students got to flex their creative muscles and made some wonderful photo props for Grace's MLK Jr. Day of Service, and then we got a little messy in the kitchen as we made up several batches of cookies to give out to people who just might need a little extra light and love in their lives.
Our high school youth had a slightly more hectic schedule in January thanks to the Eagles late-season go at another Superbowl win and some icy weather. But we did have the chance to watch part of a game together and to celebrate our culture a little bit. Then we gathered in fellowship for a delicious brunch prepared by our advisers, and finally spent some time thinking about all the wonderful things God did in our lives in 2018 and what we are looking forward to and hopeful that God is going to bring in 2019.
In February, both groups will begin a series of lessons inspired by the current sermon series happening at Grace: Real Life Remedies-Biblical Perspectives on Life's Chronic Challenges. We'll be tackling some tough topics like anxiety, stress, loneliness, high expectations--all things our youth face day in and day out. We will also have our monthly worship experiment night, where we approach worshipping God in different ways.
But first! Our Eskimo Bowl Flag Football Game will happen THIS SUNDAY, February 3rd from 2-4 pm at the Jenkintown playing field on Walnut St. below the tennis courts. All ages and families are welcome to join in playing or cheering on the players. We will provide the fun and warm beverages, all you need to do it show up!
Stay tuned for more information about the Middle School Retreat that is coming up March 29-31. Don't forget to sign up for the summer mission trips! The deadline has been extended! See below for more information on that and for the February schedule of events.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me via email or phone!
Blessings to you all,
