Adult Education - The "Neighbor Series"
Adult Ed starts the new year by examining the commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Just who is our neighbor? On January 7 we will consider the question, “Who is Our Neighbor in Church?” Come hear the Rev. Dr. Leonard Bethel, retired Professor Emeritus from Rutgers University and one of the key organizers of their Department of Africana Studies, who will speak about "African Theology, Black Presbyterianism and the First African Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia." Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about our neighbors in the Philadelphia Presbytery!

Flower Dedications - January Dates Available
The flower chart on the bulletin board in the sanctuary hallway has upcoming dates in January open to dedicate flowers in honor or memory of a special person or occasion.  Please add your name to the chart for a special Sunday, or contact the church office to see if your date is open.

Coffee Hour Treat!
At Sunday’s coffee hour, we will once again be serving king cake to mark Epiphany.  We will crown the three “kings” who find the baby trinkets hidden in each of the cakes. Tradition holds that a king cake “draws the kings” to the Epiphany. The season for king cake extends from the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas (Twelfth Night and Epiphany Day), up until Mardi Gras, "Fat Tuesday" or Shrove Tuesday, the day before the start of Lent. Some communities have "king cake parties" every week through the Carnival season. In Portugal and France, whoever gets the king cake trinket is expected to buy the next cake for these get-togethers.
*****PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN CONSUMING YOUR CAKE!*****

Grace Place
Join us on Friday, January 5 when author and historian Tom Wieckowski will return to Grace Place.  His lecture will be on Camp William Penn, "A Spectacle for Men and Angels".  It is sure to be a fascinating historical talk.  Come early and join your Grace Place friends in playing some favorite games, like Rummikub and Scrabble, or working on a jigsaw puzzle.  Lunch is served at noon and programs begin at 12:45 pm.  This is a friendly community and we hope you will join us and bring a friend!
