January 25, 2018
On Friday, February 2, Grace member Ruth Fuelleborn will once again lead us in "planting" narcissus (paper whites) bulbs in containers to take home and grow. Instructions will be available for anyone not familiar with the process. It's not too early to start to think about spring! Feel free to come at 10:30 am and join your Grace Place friends in playing some favorite games, like Rummikub and Scrabble, or working on a jigsaw puzzle. Lunch is served at noon and the program will begin at 12:45 pm. This is a friendly community and we hope you will join us and bring a friend!
Adult Education - The "Neighbor Series"
On January 28: “Who is Our Neighbor in Philadelphia?” We will host Lois Hayman-El, Training Specialist at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and member/historian of the First African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, and First African’s Clerk of Session, Marcia Singleton, for a lively presentation about the nation’s first African American Presbyterian Church. First African was established in 1807 by the Reverend John Gloucester, a former slave from Tennessee.
Annual Congregational Meeting and Lunch
The annual congregational meeting of Grace Presbyterian Church will be held this Sunday, January 28.
Immediately following the 10:30 service, the business component of the Annual Meeting will take place in the sanctuary. Extended childcare will be available in the nursery for children 5 years old and under during the meeting. Children 4 years old through 5th grade are invited to watch a movie in the youth lounge.
At the conclusion of the business meeting, come join us for a time of fellowship in Muyskens Hall! Get to know your fellow worshipers and all that goes on in the life of the church. Be sure to bring an appetite. To share your talent, email or call Jeff Cline as listed below. See you there!

Don’t Hide Your Light Under a Bushel! No!
Have a talent or special interest in something you'd like to share with the rest of us? You can do just that at the Annual Meeting on January 28th! Following the business portion of the meeting, we’ll adjourn to Muyskens Hall for a chili lunch with live performances and exhibits by members of GPC. If you paint or sculpt or do ceramics, bring in samples of your work. Or maybe you collect something, or make crafts. Show us your talent! If you sing, dance, or play an instrument, we’d love to have you share your gifts with us. Contact Jeff Cline at 267-808-5479 or or email@example.com to sign up. And, if you are a gifted encourager, do join us – we need all the support we can get!
Good Cooks Needed!
Bring your favorite chili or cornbread to feed 6-8 to the Annual Congregational Meeting on January 28th! Kerith Gabriel has taken a position as Editor-in-Chief of Philadelphia Weekly's print and digital holdings which has made it necessary for him to conclude his relationship with Grace. As we search for his replacement, there will be no February newsletter and the Vista will resume in March.
