Grace Place is happy to welcome back The Physical Therapy and Wellness Institute on Friday, January 19. Our presenter is Dr. Jacklyn Yee who will discuss common foot injuries, proper foot care and how physical therapy can help out your lower extremities. We will also hear from Dr. Alicia Canzanese. She treats the foot, ankle, and lower leg, and focuses on Sports Medicine and Diabetic Foot Health. Her goal is to help prevent and treat foot/ankle pathology! Please join us for this informative program. Feel free to come at 10:30 am and join your Grace Place friends in playing some favorite games, like Rummikub and Scrabble, or working on a jigsaw puzzle. Lunch is served at noon and the program will begin at 12:45 pm. This is a friendly community and we hope you will join us and bring a friend!
All women of Grace are invited to attend a retreat from February 2-4 at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference, Long Beach Island, NJ. Please come and enjoy this weekend of spiritual growth, rejuvenation and fellowship! Our retreat leader will be Rev. Dr. Janel Dixon, pastor of Cedar Park Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, a partner church with Grace. Janel’s retreat theme will be “Carpe Diem - Seize the Day, Experience the abundant life promised by Christ.” We have invited women from Cedar Park Church to join us. The cost of the Retreat is $200 weekend/$125 for Saturday only. Full payment is due by January 20. Infant care is available. The flier and registration forms are available on the bulletin board. Adult Education - The "Neighbor Series"
On January 21: “Who is our Neighbor in Sanctuary?” The sanctuary movement has been much in the news lately, yet the intricacies of offering and receiving sanctuary are poporly understood. The Rev. Adan Mairena, community organizer and pastor of the West Kensington Ministries and the Yeadon Presbyterian Church, will discuss sanctuary as a social justice issue. Adan is a board member of the New Sanctuary Movement in Philadelphia.
On January 28: “Who is Our Neighbor in Philadelphia?” We will host Lois Hayman-El, Training Specialist at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and member/historian of the First African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, and First African’s Clerk of Session, Marcia Singleton, for a lively presentation about the nation’s first African American Presbyterian Church. First African was established in 1807 by the Reverend John Gloucester, a former slave from Tennessee.
Bring Your Adult to Sunday School Day
On January 21 from 9:30-10:00 am the Sunday School program will be having a "look and see" demonstration to exhibit the 4 stations of our current unit. Bring a friend and come see what the kids of Grace are doing in our new program in an abbreviated look at the rotation model. We hope all members will visit this fun look into Sunday School!
Annual Meeting and Lunch
Join us after the 10:30 service on January 28 for the annual meeting and lunch immediately following. Get to know your fellow worshipers and all that goes on in the life of the church. Be sure to bring an appetite. Sign-ups will be outside the Palmer Room before and after both services. See you there!

Have a talent or special interest in something you'd like to share with the rest of us? You can do just that at the Annual Meeting on January 28th! Following the business portion of the meeting, we’ll adjourn to Muyskens Hall for a chili lunch with live performances and exhibits by members of GPC. If you paint or sculpt or do ceramics, bring in samples of your work. Or maybe you collect something, or make crafts. Show us your talent! Bring your favorite chili or cornbread to feed 6-8 to the Annual Congregational Meeting on January 28th! Following the business portion of the meeting, which takes place in the sanctuary, we’ll gather in Muyskens Hall for chili, cornbread and other good things to eat. Valentine's Day Cards - New Designs Available Now!
For the sixth year, Grace will be providing the opportunity to support the Art Studio at Beacon, and the weekly creative writing workshops held at the Hackett Elementary School in Kensington, by offering Valentine's Day cards for $5.00 each. Your gift enables Beacon to offer quality programming to underserved children, build relationships among new neighbors, and continue to create a safe space for people to explore faith in worship. Winter Clothing Collection
Winter clothing is being collected for distribution at the Wellspring Saturday breakfast ministry through the month of January. If you would like to participate, please drop off new or gently used winter clothing. Especially needed items include gloves, hats, scarves, coats, jeans, socks, shoes, and underwear.
