May 4, 2017
On Saturday, May 6, from 9:00 am—12 noon, our middle and high school students will be hosting a car wash. Please bring your cars to Vista Road and you will be directed where to park.
This fundraiser will support the Student Ministry Mission Trip fund, and will raise money for this summer’s mission trips. This money will go directly to the mission trip organizations. Donations will be accepted at the car wash. We hope to see you there!
There will be a meeting of the congregation on Sunday, May 7, at 11:30 am in the sanctuary. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect officers and to vote on a change to the by-laws recommended by the Session. For the slate of nominees, click here. For information on the proposed change in the by-laws, click here.
Adult Education Survey
The program year for adult education is nearing its end. Please consider completing our online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TXSFSKH. Even if you have not had the opportunity to attend Adult Ed in the past year, your input will be appreciated. This survey will also help us evaluate small group activity. Just nine questions and most of them are multiple choice. Thanks in advance for helping us better serve this church! - The Adult Ed Team
In celebration of our 300th anniversary this year, the Presbytery of Philadelphia has chosen to emphasize education, restorative justice and the alleviation of the school-to-prison pipeline plaguing our cities and our nation. The Presbytery has issued a challenge to members, congregations, church members and friends to raise $300,000, to be equally distributed among eight initiatives already transforming lives within the bounds of our presbytery. Having heard on April 23rd about the work being done at Chester Eastside, and on April 30th about John Gloucester House, we look forward to this opportunity:
May 7th - Rev. Linda Jaymes, recently retired from Olivet-Covenant Presbyterian Church at 22nd & Mt Vernon in Philadelphia, will talk about the Mural Arts Program in conjunction with the Restorative Justice Guild. Russel Craig, a visiting artist at Mural Arts will be with us, along with Ben Volta, the artist who has been commissioned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia to produce a mural in honor of our 300th anniversary. Olivet-Covenant provides the studio space for the Restorative Justice Guild artists to produce many of the murals that grace Philadelphia’s public spaces. Join us for another look at innovative initiatives just down the road from GPC!
May 14th - It's a mystery! Rev. John Haruna will talk about "The Trinity as a Basis for Our Relationships." The full mystery of the relationship will not be solved in one morning, but using scripture we'll be discussing some aspects of the Trinity and how the relationship serves as an example for us on Earth. This will be a two-part series and is our final lesson for the program year before the summer break. See you there.
Grace Place is thinking spring and flowers! Please join us on Friday, May 12th, when Ruth Fuelleborn will help us plant spring flowers and herbs. Lunch is served at 12:00 and the program will begin at 12:45. Come and bring a friend!
