There will be a meeting of the congregation on Sunday, May 7, at 11:30 am in the sanctuary. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect officers and to vote on a change to the by-laws recommended by the Session. For information on the proposed change in the by-laws, click here.
Our Children's Education Team is currently handing out surveys regarding our Christian education program at Grace. Please help us in our efforts to assure quality Christian education for our children by filling out and returning them as soon as possible.
In celebration of our 300th anniversary this year, the Presbytery of Philadelphia has chosen to emphasize education, restorative justice and the alleviation of the school-to-prison pipeline plaguing our cities and our nation. The Presbytery has issued a challenge to members, congregations, church members and friends to raise $300,000, to be equally distributed among eight initiatives already transforming lives within the bounds of our presbytery. Having heard on April 23rd about the work being done at Chester Eastside, we look forward to these opportunities:
April 30th – Delores Brisbon, President of the Board of Directors of Presbyterian Ministries of the Delaware Valley, will be with us to talk about “Rearing Successful Sons,” an innovative faith-based initiative designed and planned to provide young African-American males and their families in South Philadelphia’s Point Breeze community, with strategies to build resilience and support for healthy adolescent development. “Rearing Successful Sons” is held at John Gloucester House, a Presbyterian ministry program.
May 7th - Rev. Linda Jaymes, recently retired from Olivet-Covenant Presbyterian Church at 22nd & Mt Vernon in Philadelphia, will talk about the Mural Arts Program in conjunction with the Restorative Justice Guild. Ben Volta, the artist who has been commissioned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia to produce a mural in honor of our 300th anniversary, hopes to be with us as well. Olivet-Covenant provides the studio space for the Restorative Justice Guild artists to produce many of the murals that grace Philadelphia’s public spaces.
Join us for a look at innovative initiatives just down the road from GPC!
