Holy Week Services:
Maundy Thursday, 7:30 pm in the sanctuary
The choir will sing, Rev. Judy Dwyer will preach, and we will celebrate the Lord's Supper.
Morning Prayer in the chapel from 7:00-7:30 am.
At noon, the Jenkintown Ministerium's community service will be held in the chapel.
At 7:30 pm in the sanctuary we will worship with music by flute and piano, a solemn journey through Good Friday in Mark's Gospel, and Dennis Butler singing "Were You There?"
Both the 8:30 and 10:30 services will be in the sanctuary with choir, organ, and brass. If you don't have a scheduling preference for one or the other, please come at 8:30. For the 10:30 service, it will be helpful if as many people as possible use the Rydal Road parking garage.
One Great Hour of Sharing - Please Give Generously
Grace Church will continue to collect offerings to support One Great Hour of Sharing through Easter Sunday, April 16th. By giving, you will help Grace support agencies of the Presbyterian Church (USA) provide access to sustainable food systems, aid and shelter for those who are
impacted by disaster, and resources for communities working to loose the bonds of oppression and injustice. For more information please visit: onegreathourofsharing.org.
If you have been attending Grace and would like to learn more about the church, or if you would like to find out what is involved in church membership, an upcoming event is for you. Next Step is required for those who would like to become church members, but you may attend without any obligation to join. This is an informal, no-pressure opportunity to learn more and get your questions answered. Next Step will be held twice in April (the same program at two different times): Wednesday, April 26, 7-9pm; and Saturday, April 29, 9-11am. Child care will be available upon request. If you would like to attend, or if you have any questions, please contact Pastor Sandy Hull at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than April 23.
Please note: Grace Place will not be held on Good Friday, April 14.
Spring is in the air! The birds are singing, flowers are blooming, animals emerging from their winter slumber, and babies are everywhere. On Friday, April 21, please join us for a program on “The Nature of Spring” presented by the Briar Bush Nature Center. We will discover the meaning of all of nature’s changes at this time of year. Lunch is at 12:00 noon and the program will begin at 12:45 pm. Bring a friend and join us!
In celebration of our 300th anniversary this year, the Presbytery of Philadelphia has chosen to emphasize education, restorative justice and the alleviation of the school-to-prison pipeline plaguing our cities and our nation. The Presbytery has issued a challenge to members, congregations, church members and friends to raise $300,000 in honor of our 300 years. The funds will be equally distributed among eight initiatives already transforming lives within the bounds of our presbytery. On April 23rd, join us as we welcome Rev. Zuline Wilkinson, Executive Director of Chester Eastside, Inc., who will speak about one of those eight mission initiatives. Zuline is a dynamic speaker and you will want to hear how Chester Eastside is reducing the school-to-prison pipeline through education, advocacy and social services. Their goal is “…to defy the odds and dream bigger than what the statistics say our kids are destined to become.”
Special Music Sunday
On Sunday April 30th during the 10:30 worship service, professional musicians from Philadelphia and Princeton will join the Grace Church choir, conducted by Andrew Leslie Cooper, to present “Little Organ Mass” by Joseph Haydn. Church Sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as prelude and postlude music will also be featured. Mark your calendar and please invite others who may enjoy this special worship service.
Please make your reservation to attend the Spring Social for the benefit of Student Ministries. This casual event will be held Friday, May 5, (Cinco de Mayo) 6:30-11:00 pm at the residence of DeAnna and Kip Schaefer, 730 Wyndale Road, Jenkintown. The Schaefers will provide tacos, chips, salsa and beverages. You are welcome to bring a favorite appetizer or dessert. Donations will be gladly accepted to benefit the Youth Mission Trips this summer. If you have not received an Evite (emailed invitation), please call the church office (215.887.6117) to RSVP no later than Monday April 24.
