Cornerstone Christian Academy Work Day
Please join us again for our fall workday on Saturday, October 15th at Cornerstone Christian Academy’s work day. Make a difference at Cornerstone; the work that each one of us completes helps these children prepare for their Christian and academic future and also assists the school in supplementing limited resources.  We will leave from the church parking lot at 8:30 and should be home around 1:00pm.

Help support local food cupboards
Mission Team is sponsoring a food drive from October 16th to November 6th. Grab a bag and fill it with cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, turkey gravy and canned veggies! Please contact Marylouise Still at 215-680-3308 or mlstill56@gmail.com with any questions.

Happenings Announcements
All announcements for this newsletter should now be submitted online on our events page

Blanket Sunday
Blanket Sunday is October 9. Donations will be accepted through October 30. Please consider supporting this worthwhile ministry by bringing a check made out to Grace Presbyterian Church and noting "Blanket Sunday" on the memo line. The women of Grace thank you for your support as do the many families throughout the world who desperately need these blankets.

Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Project
This project will kick off on Sunday, October 9th, when you may either pick up a ready-made box from the table in the Palmer Room, or locate one from the bottom of your own closet.  A list of suggestions will also be available to help you fill a shoebox.  Then, put $7.00 in cash (for shipping) on top of the contents, and return the box to the Palmer Room no later than Sunday, October 23rd.  It is fun for our families to help children around the globe have a wonderful holiday in the spirit of giving.

Special Bible Study
As part of our commitment to reconciliation, Grace will be having a joint Bible study and prayer time with our sisters and brothers from Cedar Park Presbyterian Church on the first Wednesday of October, November and December from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.  The kickoff will be on October 5 at Cedar Park, 7740 Limekiln Pike, Philadelphia (near the Cheltenham Mall).  All are welcome!

Grace Place
October 7: "Come find out what Pilates is all about! June Hudson will be presenting a program on Pilates, the exercise system, as well as some background information on the man who it's named after. You don't need all the fancy apparatus to do Pilates, as fun as all of that is. We can do Pilates right here at Grace Place without even getting out of our chairs! By the time you leave, you will have found your "powerhouse"!! Wear clothing that is comfortable and that you can stretch and reach in. Overly loose or  tight clothing can get in the way, and impede movement. Be prepared to feel energized and awakened after the gentle progression of movements you will be introduced to. As Joseph Pilates said " Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness”.

October 21: Wendy Browder will share her photos and stories of her recent trip to South Africa with the Singing City Choir of Philadelphia. From the Apartheid Museum, Robben Island where (Nelson Mandella was imprisoned for 18 years,) to a Safari, Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope - come see the beauty of the land, animals and people of this amazing country. Lunch is at 12:00 and the program will begin at 12:45. Bring a friend and come join us!

Adult Ed
October 9: Last February, as part of his sabbatical, Pastor Sandy Hull journeyed across Alabama and Mississippi to visit Civil Rights Movement sites; some well-known, some almost unknown.  In this three-week adult education series he will share in words and pictures a few of his experiences, which will serve as a springboard for us to discuss a Christian perspective on race in contemporary America.
