Grace Place - October 11
Rick Spector from Moviehouse Productions will present a program called "Nostalgia Cabinet”.  Come and enjoy this program which features sights and sounds of 20th Century Americana.  Lunch is at 12:00, and the program will begin at 12:45.  Bring a friend and join us!

The Breathing Room:  Help Needed - October 12
Help is needed with yard work for a family being served by the Breathing Room Foundation. Ten people are needed to meet at Grace at 9:15 am. All ages are welcome.  Please bring a rake, work gloves, yard bags, etc. Email Michele Smeal if you have questions or to sign up.

Adult Education:  Boundaries:  When to say Yes and When to Say No - October 13 through November 3
Join us at 9:30 am in the Palmer Room as Pastor Sandy leads this study of healthy boundaries with friends, family, self and God.  

New Sermon Series Starts - Sunday, October 13
We will begin an important and practical sermon series, "Stuffed:  Breaking Free from Materialism to Experience God's Best Life."  Pastor Sandy Hull will give the first sermon of the series, "When More Isn't Enough." 

Muffins for Mission - October 13 
The GO (Growth & Outreach) Team will bring back this popular fundraising event to support the cost of our Rise Against Hunger event in November.  Muffins will be available by cash or check donation each Sunday during October.  Please plan to enjoy great muffins and support this great mission cause.  Don't miss out on White Chocolate Chunk, Pumpkin, Blueberry and MORE!!

Youth Fall Fun NIghts - October 13 & 20
It's that lovely fall time of year--pumpkins, hayrides, cooler weather! The youth will be celebrating it with fun trips to local farms. The middle school youth will head to Hellerick's Family Farm this Sunday, October 13. We will leave Grace 4 pm and return around 8 pm. Cost is $15. The high school youth will head to Shady Brook Farm next Sunday, October 20, leaving Grace at 5:30 pm and returning by 9:30 pm. Cost is $20. Dinner is included with both events! Email Pastor Kristen to sign up.

Fall Food Drive - through October 27  
Local food cupboards rely on food drives to help feed families in need. The Mission Team is sponsoring a food drive this month.  Bags are available and can be left in the marked bins at the collection area in the balcony hallway.  Items will be delivered to 2 local food cupboards.  Questions? - Please email or phone Marylouise Still at 215-680-3308.

June Hudson will once again offer a prayerful evening of movement and fellowship.  Join this small group in the Palmer Room at 5:30 pm each Wednesday evening through November 20.  No experience necessary.  Please bring a mat, a small pillow and wear comfortable clothes.

Pastor’s Bible Study - October 16
Pastor Sandy Hull will be leading a weekly Bible study on Wednesday evenings.  “Staying Strong in the Struggle” is the theme of 1 Peter, which is the New Testament book we’ll be studying.  New participants are welcome.  No previous Bible study experience is required of participants, just a willingness to go verse-by-verse through the text and see how God wants to speak to us.  The study will be held in the Palmer Room from 7:00 – 8:10 pm.

November 3:  Jazz Worship
Join us and be inspired through jazz worship led by Warren Cooper.  Warren is a Presbyterian elder and music minister who leads choral workshops and worship development seminars around the country.  A Philly native and a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, he is considered a pioneer in jazz worship and sacred jazz.  Warren has a weekly program on WRTI.   We at Grace have come to know Warren through our partnership with Cedar Park Presbyterian Church.  Don’t miss this opportunity - and be sure to invite a friend!

November 10:  Rise Against Hunger

Save the Date for our winter Red Cross Blood Drive.  In order to be eligible to donate, you must not have donated whole blood after Oct. 7. More details to follow.

Questions & Suggestions?  
Members of Session are always interested in hearing your thoughts and responding to your questions.  To make that easy, Session members will be available to meet with you on Sunday, October 20, from 9:15 - 10:15 in the Chapel and at 11:45 in the upstairs conference room.  

Confirmation
Is your youth in grades 9-12 and has not yet completed the confirmation process at Grace? This year is the year! Our 2019-2020 confirmation class is starting to take shape! For more information and to sign up, email or contact Pastor Kristen.

Warm Weather Clothing Collection
As the season and weather begins to change, consider helping out our neighbors in need during the coming months by dropping off warm weather clothing and toiletries.   New or gently used items will be distributed to our mission partners at both the Wellspring and Broad Street Ministries in Philadelphia.  Especially needed items include gloves, hats, scarves, coats, hoodies, long sleeved t-shirts, sweat shirts and pants, jeans, socks, shoes, underwear, and toiletries.  Items can be dropped off in the collection bins on the balcony hallway at church.  Thank you to all who are able to help.

New at Grace - Breeze Online Church Management System
Check your inbox for an email from Breeze inviting you to create a member account in our new online church management system.  This account will allow you to view and edit profile information for yourself and family members in your household, provide access to the online directory, and allow you to view the church calendar of events.  

Thank you to all who have begun using Breeze to update profile information, especially to those who have added photos!

Breeze Photos: If you would like to have your picture taken for the Breeze Database and you need help or don't have a digital picture, Steve Spindler will be happy to take your picture and upload it for you on October 13 during coffee hour.

Cornerstone Christian Academy Workday

We will have our first rehearsal in the Chapel after the 10:30 service.  All are invited to join us.  If you were not able to audition, and would like to participate in the play please attend this rehearsal.

A small group from Grace serves breakfast and distributes clothing, toiletries and snacks for up to 80 needy guests at Old First UCC in Philadelphia.  We serve on the 1st Saturday of the month.  Sign up here, on the bulletin board at church, or email Claire McHugh for more information or to arrange carpooling from church (all volunteers must be 14 yrs or over).

Join us at 9:30 am in the Palmer Room when Professor Dirk Smit will lead a session on The Belhar Confession.  Dr. Smit is the Princeton Theological Seminary Professor of Reformed Theology and Public Life.  He is an original author of The Belhar Confession, written in the 1980s to oppose apartheid in South Africa.  To read Dr. Smit's bio, click here.

October 8:  Our Fellowship Meals are back! 
Grace will host a monthly meal with food and fun.  The meal will run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and will cost $5 per person.  To kick off our season we will start with BINGO.  Please bring in new items for prizes and place them on the balcony.  Please sign up online here.

If you have been attending Grace and would like to learn more about the church, or if you would like to find out what is involved in church membership, there is an upcoming event for you.  Next Step is an informal, no-pressure opportunity to learn more and get your questions answered.  It is required for those who would like to become church members, but you may attend without any obligation to join.  Next Step will be held twice in October (the same program at two different times):  Saturday, October 12, 9-11 am; and Thursday, October 17, 7-9 pm.  Child care will be available upon request.  If you would like to attend, or if you have any questions, please notify Pastor Sandy Hull by email no later than October 9.

Join the Adult Ed Team as we explore the biblical stories in our sanctuary stained glass windows!  We will start in the Palmer Room at 9:30 am before heading into the sanctuary.  

Christmas Musical Try-Outs - September 22
Children, tweens and teens of all ages are invited to participate in the Christmas Musical on December 8 during the 10:30 worship service. Try-outs will be on Sunday, September 22 in the Chapel after the 10:30 service.  The audition is very easy! You will sing “ Happy Birthday” and read some dialogue from the play.  Weekly rehearsals begin on Sunday, October 6 after the 10:30 service in the Chapel. If you are not able to audition on 9/22  and you wish to be a part of the musical just see Ms. Belinda Hull or Ms. Valerie Clayton.

Sunday School Pep Rally - Preschoolers through 5th Graders - September 12
Children and their parents are invited to come out for a special Sunday School kick-off!  We will meet for pizza, popsicles and fun from 5:30-7pm.   Questions?  Email Sara Bloncourt. 

Grace Place - September 13
State Representative, Steve McCarter will present a program about setting up a new ID and the rules and requirements involved.  Lunch is served at noon followed by the programs at 12:45 pm.  Bring a friend and join us!  For more information visit our website.  

September 15:
Children’s Choirs ~ First Rehearsal ~ Come and Sing!
Rehearsals for Cherub Choir (4yrs-2nd grade) and Chapel Choir (grades 3-5), under the excellent leadership of Ruth Fuelleborn and Kevin Engleman, begin this Sunday from 9:30-10:20 am and continue each Sunday during the program year.   Please complete the online registration form for your child here.

Adult Education - GRACE-O  
Join us at 9:30 am in the Palmer Room for a fun-filled adult ed kick-off event in the style of Quizzo.  Participants will compete in the topics of:  Grace History, Old Testament, New Testament, and Grace Now! There will be prizes!!!  

Bibles to 3rd & 4th Graders
Bibles will be presented to our 3rd and 4th graders during the 10:30 worship service.  Please email Sara Bloncourt and let her know if your 3rd or 4th grader will be present to receive their bible.

Called Congregational Meeting
There will be a called congregational meeting this Sunday, at the end of the 10:30 worship service for the purpose of electing an elder and electing the 2019-20 Nominating Committee.  Dan Hayes has been nominated to fill a one-year term on the Session.  He is a member of the Stewardship & Administration Committee and has volunteered with the congregational fellowship suppers.  

Intergenerational Choir (IGC)  ~ First Rehearsal
Would you like to sing and fellowship through music with all of your family and church members of all ages? Then join the Intergenerational Choir (IGC).  We will lead in worship on Sunday, September 29, at 10:30.  We will rehearse this Sunday and again on September 22nd from 11:40 – 12:25.  All will need to attend the final rehearsal on Sunday Morning at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary.  Come and Sing!!!

Cathedral Ringers - First rehearsal from 11:45 am-12:30 pm, in the new bell room beside the choir room in the basement.  If you are interested in ringing with the bell choir please see Kevin Engleman or email  Valerie Clayton to express your interest.

Jenkintown Arts Festival
The Annual Festival of the Arts will be held this Sunday from 1:00-6:00 pm, rain or shine, in Jenkintown’s Old Town Square.  Grace will join this community event by sponsoring a booth with a balloon artist.  Please stop by when you are there to see some familiar Grace faces!

The time has come for Grace Student Ministry to say "Thank you!" to the people who have made our summer programming and mission trips possible! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5, 5:30-7 pm for a dinner that will be cooked and served by the youth, as well as the chance to hear more about our summer trips!
