ARE YOU A NEW OR FREQUENT VISITOR
TO GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH?

Become Involved!

Although we encourage you to consider membership, you do not need to join to become active in the life, fellowship and work of Grace Presbyterian Church.  We are a warm and welcoming congregation committed to Jesus Christ.  Visitors are always welcome to take part in worship, special events, fellowship groups, classes, and choirs,  as well as our local, national and international mission initiatives.  Please, become as involved as you feel comfortable.  We look forward to getting to know you better!

Benefits of Membership

Membership is a way for us to formalize our relationship.  A Church is a community of people who have banded together and who have promised to support and nurture one another, as together we grow in grace.  Membership allows you to participate in decision-making and in setting the congregation’s direction.   Grace Presbyterian invites everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to become a member.

We are excited to know that Grace continues to be a church where new members are able to find a spiritual home:

  • 16 new members in 2005

  • 15 new members in 2006

  • 28 new members in 2007!

Joining the Church

If you are ready to join the Church you may meet with the Session (the governing body of the Church) during one of its regularly scheduled meetings or during one of its specially called meetings to receive new members.

There are three ways to join Grace Presbyterian Church:

1) Confession of Faith

If you have never been baptized, you can join Grace Presbyterian Church by confessing faith in Jesus Christ.  The Session will ask if you trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  To confess that Jesus is Lord means that you will follow his teaching and example.  To confess that Jesus is Savior means that you will trust him for your well being in this life and beyond. They will also ask if you will, relying on God’s strength, live so as to show the love and justice of Jesus Christ to the world.  Finally they will ask you if you will be a faithful member of Christ’s Church, share in its worship and ministry through your prayers and gifts, your study and service, and so fulfill your calling to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  We mark the movement from death to life in Christ by the act of Baptism.

2) Reaffirmation of Faith

If you have been baptized, but do not know the current status of your Church membership, you may join by reaffirmation of faith. This involves reaffirming your faith using the three questions outlined under number one.

3) Letter of Transfer

If you are already a member of any Christian Church, you can join by transfer of letter.  You may write your former congregation yourself, or you may request that the Church Office send for your letter of membership.

If you would like to find out more about Grace Presbyterian and its ministries, please call Rev. Sandy Hull at (215) 887-6117, or email the Church Office.
