Wellspring’s Saturday Breakfast Ministry - Volunteers Needed!!.
Volunteers needed on Saturday, October 1st. On the first Saturday of each month, a small group from Grace prepares-serves breakfast, and distributes clothing and toiletries for up to 80 needy guests . This shelter ministry at Old First UCC in Philadelphia supports hunger relief efforts by providing a place for guests to enjoy a hot breakfast and fellowship. Guests are also offered the opportunity to select clothing, snacks and toiletries from the clothing cupboard each Saturday.
Help is needed to restock the clothing cupboard with new or lightly used men’s shorts/pants/jeans (especially sizes 34-42), shirts, shoes, new socks, new underwear, toiletries and snacks. Donations can be dropped off in the “Wellspring” collection box at church.
To join the group (volunteers must be 14 yrs or older.), add your name to the sign-up sheet located on the bulletin board across from the church office. Meet at Grace and leave by 7:45 am to return by noon. For more information, please call the church office at 215-887-6117.
October 7: "Come find out what Pilates is all about! June Hudson will be presenting a program on Pilates, the exercise system, as well as some background information on the man who it's named after. You don't need all the fancy apparatus to do Pilates, as fun as all of that is. We can do Pilates right here at Grace Place without even getting out of our chairs! By the time you leave, you will have found your "powerhouse"!! Wear clothing that is comfortable and that you can stretch and reach in. Overly loose or tight clothing can get in the way, and impede movement. Be prepared to feel energized and awakened after the gentle progression of movements you will be introduced to. As Joseph Pilates said " Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness”.
October 2: The table has been set. Next week churches around the world will be celebrating World Communion Day, and in Adult Ed we’ll be having the final session of our communion series given by Rob Eyre. Come join us as we recline at the table and think on / discuss this particular sacrament.
