Friends in Christ,

As many of you may already know, Grace is in the process of “re-visioning” our identity, purpose, and relationship within our congregation and to the larger community. I want to thank everyone who has participated in both the completion of the survey and also the listening groups that have met over the last two months. These opportunities for guided discussion have allowed our congregation to reflect upon “who we are” and “who we want to be”. Knowing “who we want to be” is critical to the success of our multi-year “re-visioning” strategy. Now that we have integrated the survey data prepared by our consulting partner with biblical guidance and the recommendations emerging from the listening groups, we are entering the final phase of our strategic reassessment.

The Strategic Re-visioning Task Force is now translating the insights, commendations, cautions, and considered hopes of our membership into a series of draft documents that will define our collective vision, mission, and ministries. The culminating event of our strategic review will be a two-day retreat at which the leadership of the church will refine and affirm the draft Re-vision Plan prepared by the Task Force. The attendees include a cross section of members from the Task Force, Session, Deacons and members at large.

The retreat will be held at the offices of the Philadelphia Presbytery, 915 Gowen Ave., in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia on Friday evening, May 20th and Saturday, May 21st. The specific documents that will be reviewed and validated at the Retreat are the congregational Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and initial Three-Year Plan. We know that throughout these serious deliberations the Lord will be with us in both moments of confusion and episodes of discernment. May His will be done!

Following the Retreat, a brief narrative of our way forward will be shared with the congregation. Also, a Town Hall meeting will be held on Sunday, June 11th, to discuss the results of the Re-visioning Process and to allow church members to claim a stake in the renewed purpose and programming of our ministries.

We ask for your prayers and engaged presence as we go about ratifying “who we are” and “who we want to be” as a community of disciples both within Grace as well as within the greater Jenkintown area.

Yours in Christ,

Robert Hudson

Chair, Strategic Revisioning Task Force
