Deck the Halls!
On Sunday, November 20 following the worship service, come to Muyskens Hall for a time of fellowship along with hoagies, chips, salads and drinks. Then stay to help decorate the church for the Advent season.
Special Bible Study
As part of our commitment to reconciliation, Grace will be having a joint Bible study and prayer time with our sisters and brothers from Cedar Park Presbyterian Church on the Wednesday December 7th from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. All are welcome!
On Sunday, November 13, the ReVision Plan will be presented to the congregation at both services. This plan represents the work of the congregation that began last December, with the last revisions being made following congregational feedback sessions this fall. This will be an exciting glimpse into the future to which God is calling us. The plan can be viewed on our mission study page.
Cradle for the Christ Child
Grace has shared holiday blessings with families in need for over 20 years, through the generosity of our congregation. Help us continue the tradition of bringing joy to children & families in our community this Christmas by participating in Cradle for the Christ Child.
Sunday, November 20th and Sunday, November 27th, congregation members will have the opportunity to pick an envelope from the cradle at the front of the sanctuary. We ask that you purchase an item or two for the age/gender listed on the card, wrap the item(s) and attach both the card & a brief description of the item(s). Please return gifts to the Palmer Room at Grace by Sunday, December 4th. If you are unable to be in worship to pick up a card but would still like to participate, please contact either Meghan Zamborsky (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Michele Smeal (email@example.com) and we’d be happy to provide you with the information you need to shop.
In addition to Abington School District, Cheltenham School District and Bethany Christian Services Foster Care Program, we are also collecting gift cards for our local mission partners. Gift cards in increments of $15 to local grocery stores, or home supply stores such as Target or K-Mart, are truly appreciated by our partners. These should also be turned in by December 4th.
Two other ways to get involved in Cradle for the Christ Child: help us organize and sort the gifts on Wednesday, December 7th at 9 am in the Palmer Room – all volunteers welcome for this festive morning! We also need help delivering gifts locally. The gifts will be ready for pick up on Sunday, December 11th in the Palmer Room.
We are so grateful for your donations of both gifts and your time. If you have any questions, please contact Michele Smeal at firstname.lastname@example.org or Meghan Zamborsky at email@example.com or (202)361-6302.
2017 Stewardship - Grace Makes an Impact
At this time of year, we reflect on what Grace means in the lives of the congregation and so many others locally and throughout the world. Pastor Hull shares a few examples of some of the ways Grace impacts lives. Read more here by downloading our stewardship letter.
Nursery Care Position Open
The Children's Ed team has a paid nursery care position available. Position would be required for nursery care (children aged 3 months to 3 years) for 2 to 3 Sundays a month from 8:15 - 11:45 am. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, and have (or be able to quickly obtain) necessary Pennsylvania childcare clearances. This position is open to any qualified individual; they do not need to be a member of Grace. Please contact us for more details if you or anyone you know would be interested. firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-361-6302.
On Friday November 18, Briar Bush will be presenting a live animal program on "Winter Survival". When it’s cold outside, animals don’t have mittens or hot chocolate to keep them warm. Instead some sleep through the winter, some have thick fur to stay active, and others just pack up and leave! Learn all the "cool" ways nature beats the cold in this live animal program. Lunch is at 12:00 and the presentation will begin at 12:45. Bring a friend and join us!
Amazon Smile is a program that donates 0.5% of all eligible Amazon Purchases to charitable organizations. Grace participates, so you can #StartWithaSmile and support our mission by clicking on our Amazon Smile Link.
Elsa Scherphorn is getting ready to “re-retire” after serving for almost a year as temporary office support at Grace, so the Personnel Committee is currently searching for someone to fill that position on a permanent basis. If you know someone who is looking for part-time work (25 hours per week) and has the skills and temperament to enjoy being in this role at Grace, please encourage them to send a resume to the church office. The full position description can be found at on our jobs page.
