Courageous Generosity

God has set before our church remarkable opportunities in 2019. Here are The following pages describe our anticipated ministry needs for 2019. The total is $892,267, which is 17% more than this year’s budget. Yes, this is a big increase—but we have a big calling! Please pray for God to lead you in your commitment for 2019. God’s plan for us is bold. God calls us to courageous generosity.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
— Joshua 1:9

Joyful Worship

Our highest purpose is to glorify God and enjoy God forever. Therefore worship is at the center of our church’s life. Each week we gather to praise God, to confess and be reminded of God’s grace, to hear God’s life-changing word, to pray for one another, and to be sent out to be God’s hands and feet in our world. Worship at Grace is blessed by the efforts of our talented music staff and the many volunteers who sing, play handbells, usher, greet, run the sound system, provide transportation for the elderly, and host coffee hour. May our worship grow even deeper and richer in 2019.

“O magnify the Lord with me! Let us exalt his name together!” (Psalm 34:3).

Caring Relationships & Spiritual Growth

Jesus commanded us to love God and neighbor. At Grace we seek to live out this love in our relationships with one another and with God. Our pastors make regular visits to the sick and homebound. Seniors from our congregation and community gather weekly at church for food and fellowship. Small groups meet at members’ homes or at church for friendship, prayer, mutual support and spiritual growth. Adult Education provides a biblical foundation for our everyday lives. We gather for fellowship meals, and the Session has plans to expand fellowship opportunities in 2019. “Beloved, let us love one another,” the Bible urges us (1 John 4:7). These activities enable our love to take shape in tangible ways.

Mission & Outreach

Ministry beyond the walls of the church building is at the core of our church’s identity. Ten percent of our church’s income is given to mission projects and organizations beyond the congregation. Volunteers invest themselves with our mission partners, serving breakfast to homeless people, coming alongside families transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency, helping underserved children learn to read, traveling to Africa with medical mission teams, and much more. And we are also working hard to find new ways to reach out to neighbors and friends who have no church home. We follow Jesus, who came “not to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45).

Children & Youth

At Grace, kids matter! Ministries to children and youth need a category all their own, and here too we have stepped out boldly. Kelly Hudson and Kristen Levens have joined our staff to make good programs even better. Children are blessed with Sunday school, special programs, Vacation Bible School, and more. The middle school and high school youth groups meet weekly and have mission trips, retreats and special events, with almost half of the participants coming from outside our congregation, and there are plans for 2019 to expand our ministry to college students and young adults. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me … for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). We are committed to making this a reality at Grace.

Ministry Support

Ministry requires infrastructure. Excellent ministry requires excellent infrastructure. For our ministry to be effective, we need a well-maintained building, our loyal support staff, and office equipment and technology. The 2019 budget includes expenses for property repairs and maintenance, utilities, insurance, office supplies and equipment, information technology equipment and support, and office staff and custodial compensation.
