The Music Ministry at Grace Church has enjoyed a long tradition of excellence. Throughout many generations, the members have supported and encouraged a rich and varied program. It is the goal of the Music Ministry to meet the needs of the worshipping congregation and provide a positive musical experience for those volunteers who so generously support the program for six choirs with their talent and time.
The Chancel Choir sings every week at the 10:30 Service under the direction of Nora Berlinger, and the Choir hosts the annual "Messiah Sing-In" during Advent. The Choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 in the Lettinger Music Room. No audition required.
The Cherub Choir is an opportunity for our youngest children to participate in the music ministry under the direction of Mrs. Nancy Huttlin. For children ages 4 to 6 (and including 1st Grade), the Cherubs sing at our 10:30 Worship Service approximately once a month. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:10 in the Camel Room.
Under the direction of Nora Berlinger, the Chapel Choir, for children in grades 2 - 6, sing approximately every six weeks during our 10:30 Worship Service. The Chapel Choir is the place where music education and Christian education come together to provide a broad experience in singing, movement and instrumental playing for children. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:10 in the Music Room.
The Charis Singers, directed by Nora Berlinger, is an intergenerational music group singing a variety of Christian Music. Music ranges from Traditional gospel to Folk Gospel, to contemporary idioms and styles. The music is intended to deliver the message through the ministry of music in a more informal setting. The Charis singers periodically offer their voices in the Worship Services and rehearse on Sundays immediately following the worship service.
Cathedral Ringers is an intergenerational choir of teens and adults ringing four octaves. The group rehearses in the Music Room on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:15 under the direction of Nora Berlinger.
Chapel Chimes is offered for youth in grades 3 - 6, and is under the direction of Nora Berlinger. This Bell Choir incorporates increased learning of reading music, interaction with other individuals during the playing of music and the coordination on the individual's part in an overall composition. Performing for special celebration Sundays and when specifically selected music has been learned, the Chapel Chimes rehearses on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in the Music Room.
