Grace Place meets each Friday from 10a.m. 'til 2 p.m. For older adults who enjoy getting together for fellowship, cards, table-top games, puzzles, crafts, singing, etc. Delicious lunch served followed by interesting afternoon program. No charge. Volunteer contribution for lunch.
Reading Buddies is a mentoring and reading program with our Urban/Suburban partner, Tenth Memorial Baptist Church. Volunteers from Grace read with at-risk children once a week on Thursday afternoons.
Cradle for the Christ Child is a Christmas tradition. Each year families at Grace have the opportunity to add a local child to their Christmas list and prayers. We receive names of children in need from the Jenkintown Day Nursery, school social workers, and the Presbyterian Childrens Village, and take gifts to them.
Laurel House is an emergency shelter for battered women and their children. We support Laurel House through gifts of food, clothing, and monetary donations. A wish list of ongoing needs is available. Although training in domestic violence support is necessary for most volunteers, we are hoping to expand our hands-on involvement with Laurel House in the coming year.
Ten percent of our budget goes directly to mission. Over and above this amount, we support community ministries in many ways.
