The Stated Meeting of Session was held on March 26, 2019
After opening prayer and a time of devotions Session:
-Received an update on ReVision Plan Year 3- GRACE CHANGES LIVES
Local Mission/Community Engagement: The next Mission/Service day on Saturday April 6 from 10-12, following the Rotary Club pancake breakfast. Michele Smeal, team leader for the Mission Team has taken the lead on arranging for 8 different opportunities to serve at Grace and in the larger community.
Intergenerational Fellowship: The first Congregational Dinner was held March 12. About 50 people attended with a noted diversity in age and in tenure at Grace. Two new families attended who have not yet joined the church. Bingo after dinner provided a fun time for those attending. The next Congregational Dinner will be held on April 9
Mission Trips: The Adult Mission Trip is planned for July 28- August 3 to Kinston, NC for hurricane relief work. Sign-ups are in progress.
Building Renovations: John VanBuren is conducting a needs assessment for Grace to include interior and exterior work, infrastructure needs and ministry needs. Program teams have been contacted, seeking their input on their perceived building needs. Members of the team working on this project: Elder Hudson, Klaus Fuelleborn, Ruth Fuelleborn, Chris Hoyler, and Wendy Browder.
Ministry to Youth and Young Adults: Youth Sunday held on March 24 featured many of our youth from Grace leading and teaching us both worship services. A promising conversation was held with the chaplain at Penn State Abington about involving college students at Grace.
-Approved a Congregational Meeting for the purpose of electing new officers on Sunday April 28, 2019 after the 10:30 worship service.
-Approved a fundraiser for the Women’s Retreat Scholarship Fund to be held at a women’s event in April.
-Approved the Growth and Outreach Team’s request for the sale of Saved by Grace mugs. The mugs were initially part of a give away to visitors at the Rise Against Hunger event last fall. Others have shown interest in purchasing them. The sale of mugs for $5 and travel mugs for $10 was approved.
-Approved a time for members and friends to ask questions of an Elder at our Spring Listening Session on April 28th at 9:30 and again after the Congregational Meeting that day.
-Continued responding to suggestions received from members at the Annual Meeting table conversations. We discussed the idea of honoring those making donations or bequests to the church in light of Matthew 6:1-4. It was noted that names currently attached to parts of the building (such as stained glass windows) are memorials, not recognition of donors. We also discussed the use of Christian symbols in the various spaces of our building.
We welcome your questions. Please speak to an Elder or contact us at email@example.com
